Oil is squeezed from the nuts. It is used in cosmetics and pharmaceutical products for shampoos and creames.
Jojoba-seeds are used to lose weight. You can buy them as pills in pharmacies.
Description of the plant:
Jojoba is a shrub, which grows in desserts and steppes. Jojoba is a tender perennial and cannot withstand frost. It must be wintered indoors in cold climates. The plant reaches an hight up to 1,50 m and wants a sunny location in a normal not to damp soil.
Propagation:
Start seeds in spring in pots or flats indoors, containing a leightweight sterilized soil mix. They need temperatures above 25° C.
When the young plants are large enough to handle, transplant them to pots.
I started sowing Jojoba on March 31th 2005. Seedings appeard on April 6th 2005.
