How to use:
The roots. The roots are digged when the plant has reached an age of 7 years. Then they are dried.
Steaming the roots produces the red ginseng favoured by the Koreans.
The Chinese prefer the white ginseng, which is made out of dried, chopped roots.
Description of the plant:
The natural habit of ginseng is Mandschurei and Northkorea. The most valuable of the plants are the roots which can reach a thickness up to 2 cm and a length up to 12 cm.
Out of the root a stem is built, which has got leaves like maple leaf.
Propagation:
Start seeds in Septembre. Germination follows in spring. The seeds need a long, warm stratification.
After a first germination in a humid and warm summer, seeds need a colder period and then a time of development about 3 month.
