Rhodiola rosea
Other names: Sedum rosea, Golden roof Healing power:
- Roseroot works as a adaptogen and as a tonic. - The roots improve memory and - learning. - The roots restore the body and mind after physical and psychological exertion and stress. - In folk medicine the leaves are used like Aloe to treat burns and cuts. - The Eskimos used decoctions of the flowers for stomach- - and intestinal diseases and also for - tuberculosis. How to use:
Especially the roots contain the adaptogen compounds. But also leaves and flowers are used. Description of the plant:
Roseroot grows perennial and can withstand frost. It reaches a height up to 30 cm and gets flowers with indistinct colour: greenish yellow, purplish and reddish. The roots scent like roses. Roseroot is a very hard plant, which even survives in Arctic areas. Propagation:
Sow the seeds at the beginning of February in flats. Donīt cover the seeds with soil. Place the flats outdoors, because the seeds need cold for germination. The seeds are very tiny. Therefore it is good to sow them in flats for better observation. If you see them directly into the garden weed could cover the young plants.
I sowed Roseroot on 27th February 2005 and on 23th March 2005 it germinated.
