Rose-hip

Healing power:
- The natural colour Lycopen (Lycopin) prevents against skin cancer. Even after heating up, for example at production of jam (jelly) the active substance works.

- The high concentration of vitamin c helps at infectiones and fever. Especially at fever the body needs many vitamin c.

- Vitamin c helps at wounds,

- and general weakness.

- Rose-hip seeds are used against rheumatism and gout,

- urinary calculus,

- as light diuretic.

- Jam is used against lack of appetite.

- Rose-hip powder is used for knee- and hip arthrosis, because of the antiinflammatory power.

How to use:
The skin of the fruits has to be dried. Then you drink it as Rose-hip tea.
Keep attention for enough air and warmth during drying, because the thick fleshy fruits very quickly go mouldy.
After the first frost the fruits are picked in order to make jam out of them. Therefore the fruits have to be undone and the yellow-white seeds have to be taken out.
Even Rose-hip vine and liqueur are processed.
The oil from the seeds is used in cosmetic.
Recipe for Rose-hip tea:
Pour 1/8 litre water on 1 dessert spoon Rose-hip and cook it for 10 minutes. If you make Rose-hip tea, you also can use the Rose-hip seeds.

Description of the plant:
Rose-hip is a shrub which grows several meters high. The branches are very thorny. The flowers are light-pink and donīt smell.
The fruits get dark-red.
The Rose-hip shrub flowers from June to July. You find the plant at waysides and on the edge of the forest.

Ingredients:
- vitamin c: 100 g fruits contain 1,4 g vitamin c

- carotinoides in the skin, among them lycopen with a content of 12,9 mg in 100 g of rose-hip fruit. Rose-hips contain much more Lycopen than tomatoes, from which was thought to be the best lycopensuppliers.
