How to use:
Century is a protected plant. Therefore it is forbidden to collect Century outdoors. But you can buy Century seed in specialist shops and grow it by your own.
In order to make tea or vine you pick the whole plant without roots and dry it.
Recipe for the Century vine as healing vine:
Century´s active substances are extracted by the alcohol out of the plant. The best is to take pure vine from biological cultivation.
Mix 0,35 litre white or red vine with 1/2 soup spoon dried Century. Let it boil for 10 minutes. Drink 1 to 3 little glasses daily.
Recipe for the Century tea:
Pour 1/4 litre cold water on 1 dessert spoon Century, let it draw for 12 hours. Then pass it through a sieve.

Description of the plant:
Century reaches a height of about 50 cm and flowers violet from June to Septembre.
You find it in glades and on meadows.

Propagation:
Sow the seeds from August to Septembre dirctly in your garden. Don´t cover the seed with soil. Keep the soil moist.
Starting seeds in very early spring also is possible.
If you grow them indoors in early spring, you have to transplant the little plants very early into bigger pots. Later, when the plants are bigger, it is much more difficult.

Ingredients:
Alkaloids aktinidin and pyridin, bitter constituent glycosids like amarogentin and gentiopikrin, flavonoids, sterols.
