The young branched shoots are eaten blanched as vegetable or raw as salad.

Description of the plant:
Udo grows perennial and can withstand frost, reaches a height up to 2,00 m and needs a sandy, clay and moist soil at a shady to halfshady location.
Udo prefers moist locations for example at streams. The plant blossoms from July to August and belongs to the herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Propagation:
The seeds need 1-4 month for germination.
